MELITTA BAUMEISTER is a New York based brand founded by German designer Melitta Baumeister and visual artist Paul Jung in 2013, which focuses on new materiality and form as its core process.
Given her experience, the desire to challenge the construction and the silhouette of the fabric of Baumeister is not a surprise. Born into a family of tailors, she has been designing and creating clothes since childhood. Since its launch at the New York Fashion Week in 2014, the brand Melitta Baumeister has quickly gained attention.
The German designer is interested in the sculptural quality of clothing, she exaggerates with volumes and plays with shapes, often using rigid materials and experimental techniques.
