DESIGNERS

MARGARET HOWELL

Margaret Howell opened her London menswear shop in 1977, and her timeless, functional take on British tailoring appealed instantly to both men and women. The brand’s signature look balances structure with  softness, evoking nature and landscape. The modern, laid-back aesthetic, rooted in British sartorial tradition, is epitomized by the red corduroy jacket made famous by Jack Nicholson in “The Shining.” The brand’s women’s line features updates to classic pieces, including wool-and-cotton-blend tweed coats, loose navy trousers, and sweaters, as well as knit accessories in subdued, earthy shades.
