LANVIN

The oldest fashion house still in operation, Lanvin was founded in Paris in 1889 by 22-year-old milliner Jeanne Lanvin. Her skill at evoking a classically composed sense of femininity soon turned Lanvin into one of France’s premier couture houses, with its focus on elegance as an everyday pursuit establishing a lasting legacy. Drawing on Lanvin’s iconic heritage, Bruno Sialelli has sought to reinterpret the French house’s classic codes through an astutely attuned contemporary lens. Appointed creative director in January 2019, Sialelli—with stints at Balenciaga, Acne Studios, and Loewe under his belt—has brought a fresh and youthful vision to the 130-year-old label. Leather handbags, knitwear, and cotton t-shirts feature playful graphics while calfskin lace-up boots and nappa leather ballerina flats exude Parisian elegance. Paneled trousers, mid-length skirts, and sneakers draw their influence from the 1970’s, while carved gold-plated earrings make reference to the French seaside. Sialelli’s eclectic collection, defined by its heavy layering, soft tailoring, loud patterns, and vibrant colors, is one inspired by the travels of Jeanne Lanvin. Transcending categorical distinctions by blurring the lines between men’s and women’s wear, Sialelli's pieces are wholly gender-fluid. With his playful, charming, and powerful designs, Sialelli continues to usher Lanvin into the twenty-first century, exploring new territory as the French house heads into the future.
