After graduating from London’s Central Saint Martins in 2005, German-Argentinian artist and designer Deepti Barth honed her skills as a designer at Carol Christian Poell’s studio in Milan. In 2012, after working for the cult-favorite brand for seven years, Barth branched off to launch her own clothing and accessories line: Deepti. The Berlin-based menswear label seeks to bring artisanal craftsmanship to the industrial world. Crafted in Italy by small, family-run manufacturers, Barth’s designs are at once traditional and contemporary with meticulous attention being paid to tailoring and detailing. By utilizing exclusively-developed fabrics and engaging the newest processing techniques, Barth brings an innovative approach to the ways in which garments are being produced, consumed, and worn. Embodying a minimalist aesthetic, finely tailored button-ups, trousers, and blazers compliment the sturdier items in the collection: jackets, coats, and belts. With hues varying from pale grey to dark black, Deepti’s pieces, while being beautifully constructed, are quiet and austere in tone. Stripped down and bare, Barth offers an unassuming label made with an unprecedented level of skill and craftsmanship. The slow and complex processes of creation result in the emergence of artistic prowess.
